To be..
When I was young,
But wise enough to know
What’s right and wrong,
How to live life
To protect what’s left,
A gaping hole in chest.
I tried to cover it up,
Pretend it’s not there,
With smiles and laughter.
Thinking it’s fine,
Nobody knows enough to care.
Hidden thoughts,
Secrets that I can’t share.
But it comes back,
Haunting me.
It became hard to breathe,
To keep a smile on,
And be the person
Everyone thinks I’ll always be.
